China to introduce visa-free travel for five Latin American and Caribbean states

The policy aims to deepen engagementand strengthen people-to-people ties with China’s Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) partners

President Xi Jinping announced that China will grant visa-free travel to citizens of five countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with plans to extend the scheme to additional states in the region in due course. This news is reported by Хinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

Xi Jinping delivered the pledge in his opening address to the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in Beijing.

China has introduced visa-free entry for citizens of five Latin American nations –Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay. From June, nationals of these countries may stay in China for up to 30 days without a visa, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian announced. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. He stressed that the move reflects China’s ongoing commitment to greater openness: "More foreign friends to benefit from China’s visa-free and other visa facilitation policies to come to China and experience its diversity, vibrancy and dynamism," Lin concluded.
