Egypt and UAE agree to expand air connectivity between two countries

Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding providing for the gradual expansion of traffic rights for air services between the two countries. This will enable airlines from both countries to operate more flights and meet growing demand for air travel, according to Sada El-Balad, a TV BRICS partner.

The agreement was signed in Cairo during the 11th AFI Aviation Week 2026. The document was signed by Sameh Fawzy, President of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, and Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE.

According to Sameh El Hefny, Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation, the agreement reflects the high level of cooperation between the two countries and forms part of the strategy to expand the international route network and strengthen Egypt's position as a regional aviation hub.

The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority noted that the Memorandum of Understanding will help deepen bilateral cooperation, support the development of the aviation sector and address the continued growth in passenger traffic.
