Egypt's Agriculture Ministry Honours 14 African Graduates in Climate Change Training

Egypt's Ministry of Agriculture celebrated the graduation of 14 African interns under the climate change initiative. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

Egypt's Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced the graduation of 14 interns from 11 African countries who completed the Climate Change and its Impact on Food Security programme. 

The graduates came from different countries including Central African Republic, Tanzania, Togo, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Gabon, Somalia, Congo-Brazzaville and Niger. 

On behalf of Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk, Deputy Minister Mostafa El-Sayyad presented the certificates of completion to the trainees.

He stressed the vital role of such programmes in enhancing the skills of agricultural professionals across Africa. It was also noted that the continent has abundant natural resources that, if properly utilised, can ensure food security for the population. 

The training included a theoretical part covering important topics such as early warning systems for climate adaptation, agricultural climate data and the impact of climate change on various farming practices. Practical sessions included field trips to agricultural research centres, farms and various locations where innovative farming practices were demonstrated.

In addition, cultural excursions to Giza and Alexandria were organised for the interns, where they were exposed to Egypt's rich historical and archaeological heritage, highlighting the country's long-standing importance in history.
