Egypt's Ministry of Planning and Economic Development unveils strategy to invest in economy of Ismailia Governorate
The plan, which covers the 2023/24 fiscal year, includes 333 innovative projects that require a significant investment of EGP 6.5bn
In a recent statement, the ministry emphasised the plan's alignment with Egypt's 2030 vision, which prioritises citizen engagement in inclusive development. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.
Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development emphasised the importance of involving citizens in decision-making processes for holistic social and economic development.
In Ismailia's investment landscape, it is worth noting that the Suez Canal sector received a major share of 45 per cent (EGP 2.9bn or US$66.77 million), while significant investments are also being made in key areas such as higher education, healthcare, local development and housing.
In addition to these efforts, the “Haya Kareema” (Decent Life) initiative is contributing to the transformation of four villages in Ismailia to improve basic services, educational facilities, health and communication infrastructure, with a special focus on women's empowerment. The initiative will directly benefit 30,000 villagers.
The investment plan also underlines a strong commitment to local infrastructure development, with particular investments in road construction, upgrading the electricity grid, expanding housing stock and improving water and sanitation in the local development sector.
