Ethiopians aim to plant 800 million trees in single day

A nationwide tree-planting campaign has begun in Ethiopia, with the goal of increasing the country's green cover by 800 million trees in a single day. Residents in villages, towns and mountainous areas have already joined the implementation of the national Green Legacy initiative. This was reported by the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation, a TV BRICS partner.

The Green Legacy initiative is designed to lay the foundation for long-term food security, improve agricultural productivity and strengthen resilience to the impacts of climate change. Over time, each sapling has the potential to become part of extensive forest landscapes and contribute to the country's economic development.

Beyond its national significance, the programme represents Ethiopia's contribution to the global fight against climate change and demonstrates the country's commitment to environmental sustainability.
