India’s AI market to surpass US$500 billion, transforming offices and talent demand across Asia-Pacific

Rapid digitalisation, a vast STEM workforce and expanding AI adoption position India as a global hub for innovation, workplace transformation and knowledge-intensive industries

India’s artificial intelligence market is projected to expand from more than US$9 billion today to over US$500 billion in the coming decades, highlighting the country’s growing role in the global digital economy and its potential to reshape workplace demand across the Asia-Pacific region.

Industry analysts note that India is increasingly emerging as one of the world’s most important centres for AI development, supported by rapid digital transformation, expanding adoption of advanced technologies, policy support and a large pool of highly skilled professionals, reports IANS, a TV BRICS partner.

One of the country’s key competitive advantages lies in its talent pipeline. India produces between two and three million graduates in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines each year, representing nearly one-third of the global skilled talent pool. Combined with a median age of approximately 29 and a population exceeding 1.4 billion, this demographic strength positions the country to benefit from a global competition for skilled workers.

Major urban centres including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi-NCR, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune have become some of the leading technology talent hubs in the Asia-Pacific region. These cities continue to attract investment in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing and advanced engineering services.

Experts believe that the expansion of specialised technology centres and innovation-driven business operations will continue to fuel demand for modern office space. As organisations increasingly integrate AI into their operations, workplace requirements are expected to evolve towards more flexible, technology-enabled and collaborative environments.

Beyond real estate, the projected growth of the AI sector is expected to strengthen India’s position within global innovation networks. The country is increasingly viewed as a strategic destination for research, technology development, and knowledge-intensive services, supported by competitive operating costs and a deep reservoir of technical expertise.

As artificial intelligence becomes a defining force in the global economy, India’s combination of demographic advantages, technological capabilities and expanding digital infrastructure is expected to make it one of the principal drivers of AI-led growth and workplace transformation in the decades ahead.
