Indian sprinter breaks record at National Indoor Athletics Championships
The athlete from Punjab covered the 60-metre distance in 6.60 seconds
The National Indoor Athletics Championships took place in the city of Bhubaneswar. A new national record was set in the men’s 60-metre event, as reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
The gold medal in this event was won by 25-year-old Gurindervir Singh from the state of Punjab, who clocked a time of 6.60 seconds in the final. He thus broke the national record, which had stood since 2018 at 6.67 seconds. This result is currently awaiting official confirmation from the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).
Meanwhile, in the women’s 400-metre event, Saloni Nagar Kumari clocked a time of 53.73 seconds, breaking the indoor record of 53.89 seconds that had stood since 2005.
Athletes from BRICS countries continue to achieve outstanding results and regularly break world records.
According to the Brazilian government’s official website, Brazilian Paralympic swimmer Arthur Xavier set a world record in the 100-metre freestyle and won a gold medal at the World Series event in Barcelona. The athlete clocked a time of 50.90 seconds (the previous record was 51.07 seconds). In addition, 17-year-old Laura Sanches brought Brazil another gold medal – in the junior category over the same distance, she clocked a time of 1 minute 03.33 seconds.
Kazakhstani horseback trick riding master Ernar Zhasuzak performed a stunt that has been entered into the Guinness World Records. At the national culture festival at the racecourse in Almaty, he rode 500 metres standing on a horse without using his hands at a speed of 60 km/h. According to Kazinform, a partner of TV BRICS, this achievement not only demonstrates the highest level of athletic training but also highlights the unique charm of national sports.
Indonesian rider Veda Ega Pratama secured his country’s first podium finish at the Moto3 World Championship, reports ANTARA. He finished third in the second round of the series – the Brazilian Grand Prix – 1.650 seconds behind the winner. The 17-year-old thanked all Indonesians for the support he felt throughout the race.
