Indonesia plans over 200 new locations to expand free education access
The Ministry aims to open 70 schools this year
Indonesia’s Ministry of Social Affairs has identified more than 200 potential locations within the programme aimed at delivering free, high-quality education to children from economically unstable families. This is reported by Vietnam News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Among the identified locations, over 160 were provided by regional governments, with 115 consisting of plots spanning at least five hectares. The remaining sites are ministry-owned buildings requiring renovation to become operational.
The Ministry aims to open 70 schools this year. The president has also mandated that at least one location be established in every district and city across the country, ensuring equitable access to education nationwide.
Experts believe that this initiative represents a significant step in providing children with opportunities for academic and personal development. As the programme progresses, it is expected to become a cornerstone of Indonesia’s commitment to social equity and long-term national growth.
