Iran launches national AI assistant to accelerate scientific research

New platform aims to streamline data analysis, academic writing and access to advanced computing tools

Iran has introduced a new artificial intelligence assistant designed to support researchers and modernise scientific workflows across the country. The platform has been developed to empower the national research community by providing integrated access to advanced AI tools within a single digital environment.

According to Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS, the system offers a comprehensive set of solutions aimed at making research processes faster, more accurate and more cost-effective. It addresses common challenges faced by researchers, including time constraints, large volumes of data, the need for specialised analytical skills, and the complexity of processing audio, visual and large-scale textual information.

One of the platform’s core features is an intelligent conversational assistant that allows researchers to ask specialised questions and receive structured, evidence-based responses. The tool also supports academic writing, helping to reduce the time required to design, document and advance research projects.

Speech-to-text and text-to-speech capabilities play a key role in supporting fieldwork and qualitative research. Researchers working with interviews, recorded sessions or audio data can automatically convert speech into accurate text. At the same time, text-to-speech functionality improves accessibility and supports the production of audio-based educational and research materials.

The platform also includes intelligent medical image analysis tools, which are particularly relevant for medical and histological research. Using machine vision algorithms, the system enables the analysis of medical images, helping researchers identify hidden patterns, accelerate diagnostic processes and transform visual data into quantifiable analytical information.

Another major feature is the automated extraction of structured data from unstructured textual documents. This function allows researchers to process large volumes of scientific texts more efficiently by identifying, categorising and converting key information into analysable datasets.

Furthermore, to support data-intensive research, the platform provides access to a high-performance computing infrastructure capable of handling complex calculations, scientific simulations, big data analytics and machine learning tasks. Computing resources are allocated based on the specific needs of each research request.

A pilot version of the system has been launched and is currently available for testing. Full deployment is expected once the necessary infrastructure is fully in place.
