Iran's iron ore pellet exports reach US$454 million in six months

Iran exported 5.383 million metric tonnes of iron ore pellets valued at US$454 million during the first half of the current Iranian calendar year, spanning from March 20 to September 21, according to a report by the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).

Although the export value saw a slight 1.9 per cent decline compared to the same period last year, the volume of iron ore pellets exported increased by 16 per cent. During the same period in the previous year, Iran exported 4.624 million metric tonnes of pellets, worth US$463 million. This is reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

Iron ore pellets, a high-grade agglomerated iron ore fine, offer better durability and performance when compared to their parent iron ore. These pellets are commonly used in the production of direct reduced iron (DRI) and hot metal in blast furnaces.

Iran's iron ore pellet exports have shown significant growth in volume, highlighting the resilience and adaptability of the country's steel production sector.
