Egypt’s garment exports reach record growth in early 2026
The sector strengthened export volumes and expanded production capacity amid growing global demand for Egyptian garments
Egypt’s ready-made garments sector recorded strong export growth between January and April 2026, with overseas shipments increasing by 15 per cent year-on-year to approximately US$1.15 billion, according to the latest report issued by the Apparel Export Council of Egypt. During the same period in 2025, exports totalled US$1.002 billion.
April became the strongest month for the industry so far this year, as exports rose by 33 per cent to US$287 million, compared to US$216 million in April 2025, reports Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.
Fadel Marzouk, Chairperson of the Apparel Export Council of Egypt, stated that the sector continues to benefit from the growing confidence in Egyptian manufacturing capabilities. He noted that local producers have improved product quality, delivery efficiency and production flexibility, contributing to stronger competitiveness in international trade.
According to Marzouk, garment exports are expected to increase by more than US$1 billion by the end of 2026, potentially bringing total sector exports to around US$4.4 billion, the highest level in the history of Egypt’s ready-made garments industry. He also highlighted ongoing investment in textiles, spinning and manufacturing expansion projects, as well as efforts to modernise production processes and increase reliance on locally sourced materials to support sustainable industrial growth.
