The head of state also mentioned that thanks to strong relations with China and Russia, joining the SCO has brought Iran additional benefits and opened the way to international markets (the country finalised its membership in the SCO in early 2023). In addition, the politician stressed that Tehran seeks dialogue with all states based on common interests.
In June last year, Iran and Argentina officially applied to join the BRICS bloc.
The Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance Ehsan Khandozi said in March 2023 that Iran considers it important to develop cooperation with the SCO and BRICS as these international organizations will play a significant role in the global economy in the near future. According to Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali, BRICS and SCO have become a new pole of power in the world.
