Indian students of Russian universities study Russian language in Chennai
A volunteer programme helps Indian applicants prepare for studying in Russia and introduces them to Russian culture
Russian language classes are being held at the Russian House in Chennai for Indian students who will travel to Russia this autumn to pursue higher education. The training is organised as part of the international volunteer programme "Ambassadors of the Russian Language in the World", which will run until 20 August 2026.
The classes are taught by teachers of Russian as a foreign language, Maria Panarina from the Manchurian Institute of the Russian Language (China) and Aleksey Bogdanov from the Institute of Foreign Languages at Moscow City University.
In addition to language training, the programme includes workshops on Russian dance and other cultural and educational activities. The course will conclude with a graduation concert.
"The programme 'Ambassadors of the Russian Language in the World' not only helps participants learn the language but also creates opportunities for cultural exchange and new prospects for Indian applicants planning to study at Russian universities. We are pleased that this year the programme is being held in Chennai for the first time, and we hope it will become a lasting tradition," said Aleksander Dodonov, Director of the Russian House in Chennai.
The international volunteer programme "Ambassadors of the Russian Language in the World" has been running for more than ten years. During this period, more than 75,500 school and university students from 25 countries have taken part. The project is implemented by the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute with the support of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
