First Russia–Latin America Strategic Cooperation Forum concludes in Sao Paulo
CORAL 2026 participants presented a programme for further cooperation, unveiled an expert collection and discussed the role of Russia and Latin American countries in shaping a multipolar world
From 13 to 16 July 2026, the First Russia–Latin America Strategic Cooperation Forum ( CORAL 2026) was held at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Sao Paulo (ALESP). TV BRICS acted as the international information partner of the event.
The forum, organised by the Centre for Integration and Cooperation between Russia and Latin America (CICRAL) with the support of the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, brought together representatives from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Chile, Venezuela, Paraguay, Ecuador, and Russia. Over four days, participants discussed prospects for political, economic, scientific and humanitarian cooperation between the regions.
One of the key practical outcomes of the forum was the presentation of the Latin American compendium on strategic cooperation with Russia. CICRAL President Esteban Luis Perie told TV BRICS in an exclusive comment that experts from Latin American countries had worked on the 200-page publication for more than eight months with the support of Brazilian universities and research centres.
According to him, the collection is based on official statistics, international economic databases, diplomatic documents and field research.
The CICRAL President also described the forum as an important milestone in the development of public diplomacy.
"The First Strategic Cooperation Forum between Russia and Latin America, held in Sao Paulo in 2026, has become the most significant political, scientific and academic event in the field of public diplomacy between our regions over the past 20 years. This is an unprecedented event, as it brought together representatives of Latin American countries and Russia from a wide range of fields – business, science, academia and politics," he said.
Daniela Secches, Coordinator and Co-Founder of the Russia–Latin America Observatory (RUSLAT), told TV BRICS that the forum had become an important platform for strengthening cooperation amid the formation of a multipolar world order.
According to her, the meeting brought together scientists, politicians and business representatives from different countries, contributing to the establishment of new professional contacts and the expansion of cooperation between Russia and Latin American states.
"Russia and Latin America can make a significant contribution to the emergence of emancipatory multipolarity. Russia is a global power with a significant historical heritage. [...] Latin America, in turn, is a pluralistic region rich in natural resources that are critically important for modern economic production and discussions on sustainable development," she added.
Another outcome of the forum was the presentation of the Programme of Action for the Development of Cooperation between Russia and Latin American Countries, which outlines further areas of cooperation in the political, economic, scientific and humanitarian spheres.
