Scientists have reported two major achievements in medical and engineering research: enhanced MRI imaging for brain disease diagnosis and the development of 4D printing technology with shape-memory polymers. This is reported by Pars Today, a partner of TV BRICS.

A research team has developed two artificial intelligence models designed to improve brain MRI scans. The first model increases precision in separating brain structures, supporting better understanding of growth and ageing. The second enhances overall image quality by improving resolution, reducing noise, correcting movement-related errors, and harmonising data across different scanners. These advances are expected to accelerate progress in early detection and monitoring of neurological conditions.

In parallel, researchers at the University of Tehran have published over 40 international papers on the design, production, and application of smart polymer-based materials in 4D printing.

The technology, which adds the dimension of time to conventional 3D printing, enables the creation of objects that evolve in shape and performance over time. Researchers highlight its potential for medical applications such as minimally invasive surgery, adaptive implants, and programmable medical devices.

Beyond healthcare, it also offers promise for soft robotics, wearable technologies, and sustainable materials, the source claims.
