Iranian scientists develop advanced injection for treating iron-deficiency anaemia

An Iranian biotech company has developed an injectable iron drug, ferric carboxymaltose, offering a faster and safer treatment for iron-deficiency anemia, reported Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The new formulation represents a next-generation intravenous iron therapy. According to experts, Its stable polymer structure allows for gradual iron release, reducing the risk of allergic reactions and side effects. 

Unlike traditional iron supplements, it enables the injection of up to 1,000 milligrams of iron in a single session, cutting the need for multiple hospital visits.

Clinical studies indicate that patients experience rapid improvement in haemoglobin levels, energy and concentration within weeks. Local production of ferric carboxymaltose is also expected to lower treatment costs and reduce Iran’s reliance on imported medicines.
