Moscow Mayor announces threefold increase in exports to BRICS countries

The most popular export destinations were the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Iran, India and China

The amount of contracts concluded with the BRICS states with the assistance of the Moscow Export Centre (MEC) has increased from 3.1 billion rubles (US$31,9 million) in 2021 to 8.5 billion rubles (US$87,5 million) in 2023. As Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin told social media, their total amount has now exceeded 21 billion rubles (US$216 million).

Among the most popular export destinations are Brazil, India, Iran, China and the UAE, reports CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS. At the same time, the PRC is the leader among the main trading partners.

It is noted that the authorities of the Russian capital see undeniable advantages in working in the BRICS space. According to them, the three-fold growth of exports has not yet reached its limit. Moreover, developers from Russia are expanding markets thanks to opportunities within BRICS+.

At the same time, the Moscow City Government pointed out that cooperation in BRICS provides not only quantitative but also qualitative growth. In addition to the key areas of energy and resources, prospects are opening up for increasing innovative exports from Russia. For example, Russian developers of 3D technologies, software for the financial sector and education have already entered the Indian market. In the UAE, Moscow exports VR solutions for medicine and industrial safety, dental simulators, payment systems for business, as well as products for animals and goods for children. And this, according to the capital's authorities, is just the beginning.
