The foreign minister said that ahead of the summit, more than 200 events on political, economic and social topics will be held in more than a dozen Russian cities.
"Together with our partners, we expect to reach a solid set of decisions to be adopted at the highest level on the main areas of co-operation," he added.
The Foreign Minister also emphasised that on the margins of the summit of the association and in preparation for the meetings in BRICS+ formats, contacts with partners will be held, which will be attended by representatives of countries aspiring to join the bloc.
"The leaders of many developing countries, first of all our closest neighbours and allies from the associations in the post-Soviet space, will take part in these formats," Lavrov specified.
He emphasised that Russia will continue to work to strengthen BRICS as one of the pillars of the multipolar world. This is reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
The Russian Foreign Minister also recalled that about 30 countries intend to strengthen partnership ties with the bloc. The Minister noted the growing interest in the association on the part of Latin American countries.
Recall that at the summit in Johannesburg in August it was announced the decision to invite Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to become full members of the organisation from 1 January 2024.
