Russia sends coal to India for first time via the North-South Transport Corridor
The coal will be shipped by sea on the final part of the route from the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas to the Indian port of Mumbai
Russia has for the first time sent two trains carrying coal to India via the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), which connects Russia to India via Iran, Russia's national railway company said in a statement.
The trains travelled along the eastern branch of the INSTC through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. This is reported by Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
Construction of the INSTC began in the early 2000s, but its further development has gained momentum in light of the constraints Moscow faces.
