The Russian capital to host Festival of Latin American and Caribbean Culture

Visitors will have an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the region and get in touch with its flavour

The Festival of Latin American and Caribbean Culture will be held in Moscow from July 20 to 28. It is expected to promote cultural dialogue between Russia and the states of the region. TV BRICS is the international media partner for the event.

On July 20–21, the Hermitage Garden will become the central venue for the festival events. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the most colourful regions of the world, walk through the cities of Latin America, hear Latin American music hits, dance to the energetic rhythms of bachata and salsa, make their own pinata, dreamcatcher, and Cuban beads, as well as taste national dishes.

The official opening, which will be attended by representatives of the Moscow government and ambassadors of Latin American countries, will take place on July 20 on the Main Stage of the Hermitage Garden. The festival programme will continue with performances by folk music and singing groups.

Guests of the event will be able not only to learn more about music and dance but also to touch the crafts of the region, learn new types of art, and collect colourful and original souvenirs made by their own hands. Visitors will have the opportunity to try their hand at making traditional Latin American household items and jewellery.

On July 21, in the Hermitage Garden, clothing designers from the region's states will present their works. They will use specially designed images to convey the national flavour of their country.

At the film screenings, the audience will be able to see feature and documentary films from 11 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Those who would like to deepen their knowledge of the region are invited to attend thematic lectures at the Library of Foreign Literature. Among the speakers of the Library of Foreign Literature presented at the festival are ambassadors of the Dominican Republic, Argentina, El Salvador, and Russia, experts, cultural figures from Latin America, translators, and travellers. They will tell about the history and culture of their countries, as well as the peculiarities of tourism and climbing the mountain peaks of the southern part of the New World.
