Trade turnover between Russia and Indonesia to grow by third in 2024
First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov arrived in Jakarta on a working visit at the head of a delegation. He took part in the plenary session of the Russian-Indonesian business forum. This is reported by the official website of the Russian Government.
The event discussed key areas of cooperation: from industry and energy to creative industries and tourism. According to Manturov, the volume of trade between Moscow and Jakarta at the end of last year reached US$4.3 billion.
In turn, Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stressed that a 30 per cent increase in trade turnover is only the beginning.
"This is not enough, we need more. As President Prabowo [Subianto – Ed.] instructed me, we need to finalise the free trade agreement with the EAEU to use it to facilitate the trade that both Indonesia and Russia need," Hartarto added.
At the end of the session, the Russian deputy prime minister expressed hope that the agreement would be signed before the end of the year.
Representatives of the Russian delegation also learnt about Indonesia's national sport, badminton. They took part in friendly matches and later attended a gala concert marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
On the second day of the visit, Manturov held a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. They considered issues of cooperation between Moscow and Jakarta in trade and economic, humanitarian and other spheres.
