TV BRICS begins co-operation with Vietnam
Content from the Hanoi colleagues will be distributed to more than 70 partner media outlets
TV BRICS International Media Network begins co-operation with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. On 19 June 2024, on the margins of the XV International IT Forum in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District (Russia), a cooperation agreement was signed by Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS, and Bui Duy Trinh, Head of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) representative office in the Russian Federation.
The agreements reached will enable the people of Vietnam to receive the most up-to-date and objective information on the BRICS development and international activities of the BRICS member countries. In turn, TV BRICS will adapt content received from colleagues from Hanoi into foreign languages, post them on its platforms – a multilingual portal and TV channel – and distribute them through a network of partners, which already includes more than 70 major media outlets from many countries around the world.
In the near future, TV BRICS and VNA plan to work together on information support for Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Vietnam, which is scheduled for 20 June 2024.
"We believe that BRICS has good prospects as many countries wish to become members of the association. The VNA sees even more opportunities for co-operation with foreign colleagues. The partnership with the TV BRICS International Media Network, which interacts with major national media from different countries, was an important step forward for us in the development of international information exchange," said Bui Duy Trinh.
The Vietnam News Agency is Vietnam's only state-owned communications concern, comprising ten print and electronic newspapers, a television channel, several printing enterprises and public information service centres. It has more than 60 permanent correspondent offices in all provinces of the country and 30 correspondents abroad. It works in 11 ethnic languages and many foreign languages including Russian, Chinese, Korean, English, French, Spanish, Japanese, Lao, Khmer. It is a member of the Executive Committee of the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA).
"The partnership of Vietnam's media as an active and responsible member of the international community with the media of the BRICS countries is necessary for the development of global co-operation. This is particularly important against the backdrop of the BRICS strengthening ties with Southeast Asian states. Thailand has officially announced its desire to join the association, and Malaysia has expressed interest. BRICS countries such as Russia, India and China are full-scale dialogue partners with ASEAN"
