TV BRICS International Media Network expands partnership in the Middle East

The launch of cooperation with one of Egypt's leading media outlets is timed to coincide with the XVI BRICS Summit in Kazan

The leading media outlet of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Middle East News Agency (MENA), has joined the information exchange network with BRICS+ countries through the TV BRICS International Media Network. The commencement of this partnership coincided with the XVI BRICS Summit in Kazan. The cooperation agreement was signed by MENA's Chairman of the Board and Editor-in-Chief, Ahmed Kamal, and Janna Tolstikova, CEO of the TV BRICS International Media Network.

The partners have agreed to combine efforts to strengthen Egypt's position in the international media space and to broadly inform the population of the republic and the region about the activities of the BRICS group.

“The memorandum of cooperation between the Middle East News Agency and TV BRICS represents an important step towards enhancing media cooperation and mutual understanding among BRICS countries, disseminating accurate information about events taking place in these countries, and combating fake news. Egypt's official joining to the BRICS group on January 1, 2024, marked an important milestone in developing strategic cooperation aimed at promoting the interests of emerging economies in the international arena and raising the voice of the Global South. Egypt is constantly working to strengthen economic, trade, cultural, and media cooperation with the BRICS countries, which together represent about 50 per cent of the world’s population. In particular, Egypt is working to develop mechanisms for interaction in the field of media that will allow BRICS members to strengthen interstate dialogue,” said Ahmed Kamal, Chairman of the Board and Editor-in-Chief of MENA.

The Middle East News Agency, established in 1955, publishes news in Arabic, English, and French. It operates under the jurisdiction of Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers and is headquartered in Cairo. MENA is a founding member of the Islamic News Agency (INA), the Pan-African News Agency (PANA), the Non-Aligned News Agency Pool, the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), and the Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies (AMAN).

Janna Tolstikova, CEO of the TV BRICS International Media Network, noted that, over its nearly 70 years of operation, the Middle East News Agency has proven to be a reliable platform, providing its readers with verified and high-quality content. According to her, the cooperation with MENA will lead to significant results in establishing intercultural dialogue between Egypt, BRICS countries, and the group’s partner states.

Previously, TV BRICS also partnered with the Egyptian news agency Daily News Egypt.

In the run-up to the XVI BRICS Summit in Kazan, and as part of its efforts to enhance interaction with media in the Arab world, TV BRICS announced the launch of content in Arabic.
