UAE provides Zimbabwe with grain to boost its food security efforts

Zimbabwe has received a vital boost in food security with the arrival of 700 tonnes of maize grain donated by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), part of a total consignment of 8,530 tonnes. This is reported by the Herald, a partner of TV BRICS.

Zimbabwe Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe highlighted that the contribution aligns with the Government's Food Deficit Mitigation Strategy, which aims to provide relief to the populations.

In turn, Zimbabwe Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare Minister Edgar Moyo confirmed that the donated maize would be milled into mealie meal before distribution, ensuring efficient delivery to those in need. The food aid will supplement existing national distribution programmes, reinforcing efforts to deal with food security issues.

UAE Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Jassim Mohammed Al Qasimi, pledged continued assistance to ensure that no community is left behind in achieving food security.
