Venezuela launches cultural exchange programme to strengthen bilateral ties with Egypt

The programme reflects a broader shift towards South-South cooperation

Venezuela launches a new academic initiative to foster deeper cultural ties with Egypt through the Diploma in Advanced Studies on Egypt. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

The programme, developed through a collaboration between the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Centre for African, American, and Caribbean Studies in Caracas, provides an in-depth exploration of Egyptian history, culture, economy, and language.

Since its inception, the diploma has attracted over 90 Venezuelan students across three cohorts, offering a 100-hour curriculum covering eight millennia of history.

Ambassador Kareem Amin, Egypt's envoy to Caracas, emphasised the strategic importance of this academic collaboration, underlining its role in promoting mutual understanding and cultural exchange. He noted that the programme is part of Egypt’s broader diplomatic efforts to enhance educational and cultural outreach in Latin America.

The curriculum integrates contemporary Egyptian political and cultural dynamics, highlighting the similarities between Egypt and Venezuela as nations within the Global South. The programme also reflects a broader shift towards South-South cooperation, with Venezuela and Egypt recognising shared global opportunities, the source claims.

The Diploma in Advanced Studies has been widely acknowledged as one of the most sought-after courses at the Centre for African, American, and Caribbean Studies. It is expected to provide a deeper understanding of Egyptian heritage and contribute to strengthening ties between Venezuela and Egypt.
