Chinese President Xi Jinping, on behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese government, congratulated all citizens on the Spring Festival.
He noted that the Year of the Rabbit has begun to fully realise the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress in all areas. This is reported by Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.
Xi also said China has adhered to the general principle of striving for progress while maintaining a stable economy. He highlighted several successes of the past year, including a new high in grain production, a stable employment rate, and breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation.
Stressing the need to deepen reform everywhere, Xi said efforts should be made to promote entrepreneurship and creativity among all members of society to give greater strength to China's modernisation.
The dragon, as the totem of the Chinese nation, is considered strong, fearless and benevolent, Xi noted.
Chinese President stressed that the dragon not only embodies the spirit of the Chinese nation's relentless pursuit of self-improvement, diligence and enterprise for 5,000 years, but also demonstrates the determination and aspiration of hundreds of millions of Chinese people to build China into a strong country and realise national rejuvenation.
The leader expressed his hope that in the Year of the Dragon, all Chinese people will push forward with great zeal and dedication, collectively writing a new chapter in promoting Chinese modernisation.
