The "Earth. Lifelines" documentary film is dedicated to Russia's contribution to solving the global problem of land degradation in the context of the implementation of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
Using the examples of three regions – the Republic of Dagestan, the Republic of Kalmykia, and the Astrakhan Oblast – it demonstrates sustainable pasture management practices, phytomelioration, efficient water use, and the interaction of science, government, and local communities.
The content was created based on the results of an international expedition involving UN representatives and Russian and foreign experts, as well as farmers and herders, who are working together to find an answer to the question: how to stop the advancing sands and bring the land back to life.
