200 Ethiopian students receive scholarships to Chinese universities

The Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia held a ceremony for 200 students who received scholarships to study in Chinese universities in the academic year 2024/2025. 

Shen Qinmin, Minister Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia said that the Chinese government, through the scholarships, is helping many young Ethiopian students to realise their dreams of pursuing higher education at leading institutions in China.

In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of young Ethiopians pursuing undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate education in Chinese institutions of higher learning. This is reported by ENA, a parter of TV BRICS.

Shen emphasised the importance of scholarships as a driving force in promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning, as well as a tool to deepen the strategic partnership between Ethiopia and China.

Idossa Terfassa, Ethiopia's Scholarship and Internationalisation Desk Head at the Ministry of Education, noted that programmes to develop human resources through long-term and short-term training are a priority for bilateral cooperation. 

He added that such scholarships not only enrich the educational career of students but also strengthen relations between the two countries.
