Brazilian government launches National Public Procurement Portal
Citizens will be able to track the process of goods procurement by government agencies on their own
The National Portal of Public Procurement was launched in Brazil. This information was published on the official website of the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in Brazil.
The portal was created to ensure transparency in the use of public money. Now citizens will be able to control the entire process of procurement of services and goods by state agencies throughout the country. Thus, residents of each municipality will be able to independently track how much money, for example, was paid to the supplier of medicines, which they as patients received in the clinic.
The creation of this public portal was one of the requirements spelled out in the new Bidding Law (Lei de Licitações 14.133/2021). It requires public bodies to disclose all information about the procurement process. The new portal will be managed by a special committee composed of representatives of the federal government, Brazilian states and municipalities. From now on, information from all public and private procurement systems will be stored centrally in a single resource.
It is noted that the portal can be used as a platform for electronic bidding and as a reference base for prices. Citizens will have access to a national database of electronic invoices. Users will be able to track all necessary information without registering on the site.
