Brazilian state creates logistics committee to ensure G20 security
The Rio state government launches Logistics Committee that brings together representatives of the secretariats that coordinate security for the forum's events
The committee includes the Secretariats of Security, Military Police, Civil Police, Civil Defence, Prison Administration, Health, Transport and Urban Mobility, Tourism, Institutional Security, as well as the Undersecretary for Events of the Governor's Office. Headed by the Secretariat of Security, the Logistics Committee will be responsible for the strategic planning of G20 activities and events within the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Secretary of Security, Victor Cesar dos Santos explained that this committee was created to coordinate the efforts of the state's public security forces with the Rio de Janeir Ministry of Justice and Public Security, with the participation of the Brazilian Federal Highway Police, as well as Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the source, co-ordinating and integrating security actions is the main mission of the secretariat. The way to realise this mission is through the creation of this committee, where agendas are discussed and actions are debated.
The State G20 Commission plans to create three thematic committees. Two other committees will be set up soon: an engagement committee that will work to mobilise schools, sports associations, clubs and civil society institutions, and a thematic committee that will be responsible for planning activities on G20 agenda issues such as hunger, energy transition, climate change and governance.
