Cabinet IDSC initiates a national dialogue on the direction of the Egyptian economy

The main goal of the national dialogue is to reach public consensus on policies and mechanisms to implement the document’s goals

The first national dialogue on the strategic directions of the Egyptian economy from 2024 to 2030 was launched at the Information and Support Centre (IDSC).

Assistant Prime Minister Osama El-Gohary said that this research project included six months of work, 19 workshops with local and foreign experts and the participation of 400 people.

The project made 873 recommendations to improve the performance of the Egyptian economy. Thus, the national dialogue was presented on their basis.

The main objective of the national dialogue is to reach a public consensus on policies and mechanisms to implement the document's goals. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

The former Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan praised the national dialogue and stressed that citizen participation in shaping policies and implementation plans is a guarantee for their success.

He also called for supporting small businesses and manufacturers by ensuring fair market conditions, as well as legislative reforms.

The head of the National Accounts Department at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Ashour admitted that the document aims at ensuring the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy by diversifying its structure among different sectors such as agriculture, industry, tourism, logistics, communications, construction and building services.

He also stressed on the need to maximise the benefits of this diversity and to ensure the flexibility of the Egyptian economy.
