Entry to Cuba is possible without visa for Chinese citizens
Visa-free entry is possible for 90 days
A statement published on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba assures that the decision is in line with the objective of "promoting tourism, facilitating the flow of travellers and continuing to develop relations of friendship and cooperation with the People's Republic of China".
"This facility will undoubtedly contribute to the development of exchanges between the peoples of both countries," it says.
However, the text clarifies that all Chinese citizens interested in staying in Cuban territory "for more than 90 days from the date of entry, must apply for the appropriate visa."
It also adds that if they arrive to "work, study, reside, make news reports or devote themselves to activities other than those authorised for their entry" into the national space, they must also apply for a visa.
Earlier during the closing ceremony of the International Tourism Fair (FITCuba 2024), the island's Tourism Minister Juan Carlos Garcia announced that Chinese nationals with regular passports will be able to enter the Caribbean country without a visa.
The minister also revealed that the Asian giant will be the guest of honour at next year's event.
In recent statements to Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS, Cuba's tourism advisor for Asia, Elizabeth Cristina Vela, said Cuba is focusing on promoting its safety features and connection to nature.
The resumption of the Beijing-Gavana direct flight is one of the main goals of both countries after the gradual recovery of the sector internationally.
