Egypt's agricultural exports rise to 5.2 million tonnes in first half of 2025

Citrus and potatoes lead the country's agricultural export market

Egypt’s agricultural exports reached 5.2 million tonnes in the first half of the year, with citrus fruits and potatoes leading the way, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation. This is reported by  Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

A report from the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine, presented to Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk, highlighted the significant volume of exports, confirming the growing role of these crops in Egypt’s export economy. Citrus fruits topped the list with about 1.8 million tonnes exported, followed by potatoes at 1.2 million tonnes.

Minister Farouk emphasised Egypt’s ambition to strengthen its position as a regional leader in high-quality agricultural exports by adhering to strict quality and food safety standards. He also stressed that the ministry supports exporters by removing barriers and improving competitiveness, recognising the sector’s vital contribution to the national economy and development plans.

The success of Egypt’s export system, the minister said, relies on the collaboration of farmers, producers, and exporters dedicated to quality and good agricultural practices.
