Egypt's Prime Minister reviews readiness for opening of archaeological museum

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting to assess the readiness of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) for opening.

The head of government inspected the building of the cultural institution and its surrounding areas. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

The Grand Egyptian Museum, or Giza Museum, is located 2 kilometres from the famous tourist site, the pyramids. The cultural centre, once opened, will be the largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilisation.

The Prime Minister pointed to the project's potential in attracting foreign tourists, especially those interested in the history of ancient Egypt.

The officials also assessed the progress of works on the development of adjacent areas, such as landscaping, installation of lighting equipment and signs, and construction of necessary infrastructure. Business representatives present at the meeting said that they are already expanding the hotel network near the museum.
