Egypt to emphasise environmental sustainability this year
According to Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said, the main objective of the plan is to increase the share of private investment in total investment to 50 per cent, which should help create a more dynamic environment for business. Human development is also an important aspect, so 42,4 per cent of public investment will be allocated to projects in education and health.
In addition, in the health sector, 58 new hospitals are to be completed, while another 55 will be developed and equipped. In the education sector, 3,500 existing schools will be modernised and 18 new technological schools will be established. The plan also aims to significantly reduce illiteracy rates.
The government is committed to allocating 50 per cent of public investment for transformation to green projects, with a focus on environmental sustainability. This includes increasing the use of renewable energy, expanding protected areas and improving energy efficiency.
Another important goal is to provide decent housing for 337,200 families. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.
In addition, the completion of the national road network is a key infrastructural objective. A digital database for the national council for persons with disabilities will also be created.
Hala El-Said noted that the plan is in harmony with Egypt's Vision 2030 programme, which is a national strategy to transform the country into a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable state.
