Films from 50 countries to be shown at Moscow International Film Festival in Russia

The programme also includes films from BRICS countries

Moscow is once again becoming the capital of world cinema: the 47th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) opened in the Rossiya Theatre. The red carpet, stars in evening gowns – this is how one of the oldest film festivals in the world started.

The ceremony was opened by Vladimir Medinsky, Aide to the Russian President, who read from the stage a welcome telegram from Vladimir Putin.

"The Moscow Film Festival is famous for its hospitable atmosphere, rich and rich history, and unique traditions. The masters of cinematography considered it an honour to present their new works here, and the festival gave someone a ticket to a great cinematographic life"

This year's programme is especially rich: the organisers said that the festival will feature films from 50 countries. A total of 200 films will be shown to the audience. The competition includes four nominations – "Main Competition, "Documentary Films", "Russian Premieres", and "Short Films".

The festival includes works by filmmakers from all over the world, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Vietnam, India, Iran, China, Mexico, Peru, Chile, and other countries. A film by Argentine director Alejandro Agresti will close the event.

The BRICS festival will also take place at MIFF, where feature films from the countries of the association will be presented. A member of the jury of the main competition, actress and producer Bushra from Egypt, said in an exclusive commentary to TV BRICS that international cooperation in cinema, especially among the BRICS states, is a new stage in the development of the film industry.

"It's a huge and very historical festival. I'm proud to be part of it this year," added Bushra.

MIFF celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2025. The film festival will run until 24 April, delighting the audience with bright premieres and immersing them in the world of cultural discoveries.
