Films from the BRICS countries will be screened at the 5th Innovative International Film Festival
The 5th Innovative International Film Festival (IIFF), to be held in India from 6-9 October, will showcase films from the BRICS countries.
TV BRICS film "More Precious than Gold" will be presented at the event (director: Andrey Porshnyak, running time: 25 min)
In the 1970s, a gold deposit was discovered in the Okhotsk district of Khabarovsk Krai. Its exploration and development began in 2010. Both before and after the development of this territory has become an example of ecological compromise. Civilisation and industry adapted to the life of indigenous peoples and nature, and not vice versa. Who collects elbym, why tie a ribbon to a tree when applying for a job and what do bears steal from industrialists? The TV BRICS film crew spent more than 30 hours in total on the road to see what is more precious than gold.

"Between Worlds" (directed by Guilherme Reis, running time: 70 min)
In 1929 Elena Antipova, a Russian psychologist and educator, was invited by the Minas Gerais state government to participate in educational reform. The film, which marks the 90th anniversary of her arrival in Brazil, features rare archive photos, the memories of friends and assessments by experts from Russia, Brazil, Spain and France. The story of a distinguished person who made a decisive contribution to the democratisation of Brazilian education and pioneered education for people with disabilities remained unknown to most Brazilians until today.
"Legacy" (director: Guilherme Reis, running time: 70 min)
The history of friendship is commemorated with the traditional Cavalhada de Santo Amaro (Equestrian Procession of Santo Amaro), which has been held in Brumal, Santa Barbara district, Minas Gerais, for over 80 years. It all started in 1937 with horse handlers Jorge Calunga and Amaro Antonio, and today their descendants carry on the tradition they inherited from their ancestors.
"The Blessing" (director: Guilherme Reis, running time: 18 min)
Dona Dalila, 97, lives in her small house in the city of Belo Horizonte, waiting for anyone who knocks on her door seeking a blessing.
Episode of "Poetic Lishui" (Director: Chen Wei, running time: 12 min)
The landscape poetry of the Oujiang River coastline not only reflects the landscape richness of the region south of the Yangtze River, but is also a kind of participant and pioneer in environmental conservation, which is incredibly important for China today. So how has landscape poetry influenced the people's lifestyle along the 400-km-long Oujiang River? Over the course of 11 months, the film crew visited 53 landscape and cultural heritage sites, met the successors of the intangible cultural heritage in Lishui City, and discovered the amazing poetry and thirst for living life to the fullest.
Episode "Summer" of "The Four Seasons Chronicle - 24 Seasons" (Director: Chen Wei, running time: 10 min)
The 24 Seasons is a unique item of cultural heritage created by the hard-working and wise ancestors of the modern Chinese. Each season corresponds to a particular spirit and traditional custom. Hangzhou, a city south of the Yangtze River with a long history, keeps unique traditions and customs. This project will explore the historical depth of 'old Hangzhou' as well as the innovation and inclusiveness of 'new Hangzhou' through different cultural practices.
Episode of China in Numbers (director: Vikram Channa, running time: 23 min)
"China in Numbers" is a six-part documentary series in support of the "The View and Sound of China" project, presented by the State Council Information Office, in association with WASU Group and Discovery. The documentary presents a vivid and wide-ranging image of China from an international perspective. "China in Numbers" gives an insight into the country's major development milestones and its "simple happiness".
"The Return of the Milu Deer" (director: Zhang Rong, running time: 26 min)
The documentary tells the story of the milu deer, who had lived with humans since birth, returning to the wild. Deeply attached to humans and having lived away from wild deer for a long time, the protagonist encounters various obstacles on her way, but successfully returns to her herd of brethren.
As a reminder, the "Dostoevsky Intercontinental" documentary by the TV BRICS joint editorial team premiered at the 4th Innovative International Film Festival in Bangalore in 2021. It was ipresented by Gennady Rogalyov, Director of the Russian Centre for Culture and Science in Chennai.
The joint five-sided project by editors of the BRICS countries was recognised as the best documentary film of the IIFF.
For the fourth year in a row, TV BRICS offers guests and participants of the Innovative International Film Festival a programme of BRICS documentary films screenings.
