Iran has announced a significant achievement in the field of radiopharmaceuticals, with the nation now producing and supplying over 70 different types of these crucial medical isotopes. This is reported by Alalam, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to the official information, over 220 medical centres throughout the country rely on these domestically produced products. Radiopharmaceuticals, which utilise radioactive isotopes, play a vital role in modern medicine and are often crucial in oncology and cardiology.

The radiopharmaceuticals developed in Iran fall into three main categories: diagnostic, pain-relieving, and therapeutic. These categories address a broad spectrum of medical needs, from early disease detection to targeted cancer therapies.

Approximately 20 domestically developed radiopharmaceuticals have already undergone research and clinical trials, the source claims.
