Iranian exports to Africa surge by 85%

Iran has reported an 85 per cent year-on-year increase in exports to Africa during the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year, spanning from 21 March to 22 June 2025. 

Mohammad-Reza Safari, Head of the Africa Office at Iran’s Trade Promotion Organisation, shared the figures on Tuesday, highlighting growing economic ties between Tehran and African nations. This is reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

Safari noted that the country’s trade balance with the continent currently stands at 113 per cent for the year, with Iranian exports now reaching 32 African countries, up from 27 during the same period last year. 

Addressing future trade strategies, Safari urged a shift towards exporting higher value-added goods and investing in offshore production facilities in Africa. He also referenced China’s longstanding and successful application of this model in the region.

At present, bilateral trade between Iran and African countries is valued at approximately US$1.3 billion. Both sides have expressed ambitions to increase this figure to between US$3 and US$5 billion by the end of 2025.
