Kazakhstan–Brazil agricultural trade rises 10% amid strengthened livestock and research cooperation
Bilateral talks focus on livestock development, agricultural science partnerships, and technology transfer
Trade in the agricultural sector between Kazakhstan and Brazil has increased by 10 per cent, reaching US$89.5 million, as both countries move to strengthen cooperation in livestock farming and agricultural science, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture.
Vice Minister of Agriculture Amangaliy Berdalin met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Kazakhstan, Marcel Fortuna Biato, to discuss current cooperation and future prospects in the agro-industrial sector, with a particular focus on livestock development.
As part of a Comprehensive Plan for Livestock Development, Kazakhstan has introduced a concessional lending programme offering an annual interest rate of 6 per cent, aimed at supporting livestock purchases and farm productivity improvements. Officials expect the scheme to become a key instrument of state support for farmers and a driver of growth in the livestock sector.
Scientific and technological cooperation also featured prominently during discussions. Kazakhstan’s National Agrarian Science and Education Center expressed interest in learning from Brazil’s agricultural research system, particularly in commercialising research and advancing scientific collaboration. Plans were discussed for joint research projects, internships for Kazakh scientists at Brazilian research institutes such as Embrapa, technology transfer initiatives, and expert exchanges.
According to Kazinform, a partner of TV BRICS, the dialogue also covered modernising agricultural infrastructure, including poultry and livestock farms, grain storage and processing systems, mechanisation, and training personnel to operate advanced farming equipment.
Both sides confirmed their readiness to expand partnership and implement joint projects in the agricultural sector, signalling a growing strategic alignment between Kazakhstan and Brazil in agriculture.
Earlier reports indicated that Kazakhstan has also boosted grain and flour exports to nearly nine million tonnes, reflecting a broader expansion of its agro-industrial sector.
