Kyrgyzstan boosts honey exports as overseas demand rises

Kyrgyzstan significantly increased honey exports during the first quarter of 2026, with overseas shipments rising by more than 78 tonnes compared to the same period last year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the country exported 152.8 tonnes of honey between January and March, reports Akchabar, a partner of TV BRICS.

The total value of exports reached approximately US$426,600. Authorities noted that the sector continues to demonstrate stable growth amid rising interest in Kyrgyz agricultural products in international markets.

The Ministry of Agriculture stated that the expansion of export volumes has been driven by stronger foreign demand as well as the growing export capabilities of domestic beekeepers. Efforts aimed at improving production standards and market access have also contributed to the sector’s development.

Neighbouring countries accounted for the majority of honey imports from Kyrgyzstan, with Uzbekistan emerging as the leading destination for supplies.

Officials emphasised that Kyrgyz honey is strengthening its international position due to its high quality and environmental purity. The product is increasingly recognised abroad as demand grows for natural and sustainably produced food products.
