Thailand to introduce AI in classrooms nationwide

The country aims to become a pioneer in the field

Thailand is integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its education system in an effort to improve student performance, according to the Vietnam News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The new initiatives are designed to prepare school pupils for an increasingly fast-paced digital world. AI technologies will be introduced in classrooms across the country.

The Bureau of Academic Affairs and Educational Standards has developed AI-based teaching materials and resources for both teachers and students. More than 60,000 children and 700 pilot schools have already taken part in these programmes, helping to raise digital literacy from an early age.

The Bureau noted that it is working with some of the world’s leading technology companies to make use of their products. Over two million teachers have already received training in artificial intelligence.

The country is also implementing a scheme called Digital Citizen Plus, which helps teachers enhance their digital intelligence while ensuring pupils learn to use technology safely, responsibly and creatively.

According to the report, Thailand intends to build a full AI-driven ecosystem and to become an innovator in the field, moving beyond the role of a mere technology user.

Other BRICS nations are also prioritising the introduction of digital technologies in education. For example, China has introduced compulsory AI education for primary and secondary schools. This semester, more than 1,400 of the city’s educational institutions will devote at least eight hours to the subject, reports China Daily, a partner of TV BRICS.

Meanwhile, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, legislators have proposed using AI as a teaching aid for pupils with disabilities. They believe it could help overcome accessibility barriers in schools and make education more inclusive and effective, according to Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.
