2034 World Cup to be held in Saudi Arabia

The championship in Saudi Arabia will be held in 15 stadiums in five cities

FIFA General Assembly confirmed Saudi Arabia as the official host for the global tournament. This is reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that the national football associations voted in favour of Saudi Arabia's bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

"The 2034 World Cup will be an extraordinary tournament, as it will mark the 100th anniversary of the first FIFA World Cup in 1930," said Infantino. "The 2034 edition will undoubtedly be special, and I am delighted with the unanimous support from all continental federations."

According to the organisers, the World Cup in Saudi Arabia will be held in a total of 15 stadiums in five cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and Neom, a yet-to-be-built city in the northwest of the country.

Plans for Neom Stadium state that it will be located 350 metres above sea level and will only be accessible by high-speed lifts and unmanned vehicles.
