Russia holds Days of Spiritual Culture in Indonesia and Thailand

In December 2025, Russia successfully held the Days of Spiritual Culture in Indonesia and Thailand. The events were organised with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Russian Orthodox Church. The TV BRICS International Media Network acted as the international information partner of the project.

In Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, the Days of Culture took place at the Russian House, which marked its 60th anniversary this year. Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova noted that "Russian culture always finds a special response in Indonesia – the 'country of a thousand islands', which possesses a rich and unique heritage." During the Days of Spiritual Culture in Jakarta, the photo exhibition "Cultural Heritage of Russia" was opened, timed to the 180th anniversary of the Russian Geographical Society. The exhibition featured works by finalists and winners of the all-Russian photo competition “The Most Beautiful Country”, depicting unique historical and architectural landmarks from different regions of the country. In the evening, guests enjoyed a concert by laureates of the International P. I. Tchaikovsky Competition, featuring masterpieces by Russian composers and old romances.

In Thailand’s capital, Bangkok, the programme was even more extensive. Russian laureates of the Tchaikovsky Competition performed together with the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra. Two photo exhibitions opened simultaneously at the Royal Siam Society: alongside "Cultural Heritage of Russia", the exhibition "Kizhi – a Revived Masterpiece of Russia" was also presented. President of the Royal Siam Society Bilaibhan Sampatisiri noted that the event reflects a long-standing friendship and fruitful cooperation with the Russian Geographical Society.

"This evening is a testament to the close and developing cooperation between the Russian Embassy, the Russian Geographical Society and the Siam Society – three institutions united by a commitment to fostering cultural understanding, academic exchange and lasting friendship. We look forward to further strengthening and expanding this thriving partnership," Bilaibhan Sampatisiri added.

The Days of Spiritual Culture concluded with a concert by one of Russia’s oldest professional choirs, the Moscow Synodal Choir, which performed at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Bangkok. The programme allowed Thai audiences to become acquainted with examples of Russian sacred, classical and folk music.

The Days of Spiritual Culture of Russia is one of the leading international projects of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, aimed at promoting the spiritual and moral values of the Russian people and national culture abroad. The organiser is the Autonomous Non-profit Organisation “Russian Seasons”. Since 2008, the events have been held in more than 50 countries. In 2025, the series of events also took place in Zimbabwe.
