Russian archaeologists to create 3D model of Beryozov ancient city

The city is located in the north of Siberia in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region

Within the framework of the current archeological season, specialists from Ugra are completing a major project dedicated to the study of historical urbanism of Russian cities in the north of Siberia. The main attention is paid to the ancient town of Beryozov, one of the oldest Russian settlements in Yugra and in the Siberian north.

According to Ksenia Ermakova, a researcher of the Centre of Ugra Archaeology and Ethnography, the main task of the project is to explore the territories based on the data of archaeological excavations.

As a result of the work, 3D models of the Kremlin and manor houses will be created, and in the future it is planned to carry out historical reconstruction in the urban environment. This is reported by District broadcaster "Ugra", a partner of TV BRICS.

In addition, Yugra archaeologists continue to study the monuments of the Kayukovo culture. This year they focused on the study of new sites – settlements Kayukovo 3 and Kayukovo 4, located next to the previously studied Kayukovo 1 and Kayukovo 2. These monuments are partially submerged in the swamps of the Demian-Vasyugan system, which makes their study particularly challenging.
