Serbian President says BRICS has great potential
Aleksandar Vucic stresses the importance of strengthening ties between the BRICS member countries
According to President Aleksandar Vucic, Serbia is in the process of integrating with the European Union (EU), although accession is unlikely to take place within the next four years. However, Vucic stresses the great potential of BRICS, which will become a relevant issue for future Serbian generations, as reported by Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.
BRICS is composed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and other countries, such as Argentina, Iran, Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, have interest in joining this economic bloc.
During a speech to citizens on Sunday, Vucic stated that Serbia's rule of law and economic situation are not far behind European standards, including salaries and pensions. He pointed out that BRICS has a population of 3.2 billion, while the entire West, including NATO member countries, adds up to only about 950 million inhabitants.
Vucic stressed the importance of strengthening ties and resolving disputes among BRICS member countries. He believes BRICS has a promising future and wonders what changes the world map could undergo in the next 20 years if countries like Indonesia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Latin American countries, Bangladesh and Iran join the bloc.
Currently, the BRICS member countries represent 42.9% of the world population and contribute 31% of the global GDP. This economic group has the potential to attract other nations.
