Belarus develops specialised tractor model for cultivating rice fields in Indonesia
The lightweight tractor is designed for use on small areas
A Belarusian manufacturer of agricultural machinery has developed a tractor model that is best suited for use in Indonesia. This was reported by BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS.
As a company representative noted during the Belarus-Indonesia forum in Jakarta, Indonesian agriculture is characterised by relatively small plots of land, typically 0.3–0.5 hectares. For this reason, there may be demand in the market for lighter tractor models specialised in working rice fields.
"This machine differs from those used in our market. We are offering a complete package: not just the machine, but also the attachments for it. […] We are very hopeful that this lighter model will capture its share of the market. […] Competition in this market is fierce, but our traditional strengths are reliability, simplicity and quality," said a representative of the Belarusian company, speaking about the new offering for the Indonesian market and noting that the company is expecting significant volumes of deliveries in 2027.
Mikhail Myatlikov, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told journalists that participants at the Belarusian-Indonesian business forum in Jakarta had signed around two dozen different bilateral agreements – the total value of the contracts amounted to approximately US$50 million.
According to Myatlikov, the Indonesian side showed particular interest in machinery from Belarus, as well as in supplies of dairy products, including milk powder and whey.
As Belarus’s Minister of Economy, Yuri Chebotar, previously noted, the republic is steadily increasing its exports to countries in the Far Arc.
"We are seeing steady results. This year, the Asian region is a key focus: exports have grown by more than 30 per cent. In fact, we are seeing results across the entire ‘far arc’, including Latin America and Africa," the minister emphasised.
According to the minister, these positive results have been achieved thanks to an export programme designed for sectoral ministries and a focus on the specific market characteristics of each individual country.
Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko has arrived in Indonesia on an official visit as part of a major tour of East and South-East Asia.
