The fifth UAE Research Programme for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) announced three grant recipients

The award ceremony was held under the patronage of the Vice President of the UAE

The fifth UAE Research Programme for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) Grant Award Ceremony was held in Dubai, UAE. Three research groups were awarded.

One of the awardees was a group of scientists from the UAE Institute of Technology Innovation with a project on using a laser system to induce rain by remote sensing. This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, highlighted the significance of the UAEREP programme as an international initiative that attracts scientists and researchers from different fields to develop new innovations in rain enhancement science.

UAEREP Director Alya Al Mazroui stressed that the challenges of water scarcity require collective efforts and that the UAEREP programme continues to serve as a platform for sharing scientific growth and innovations in the field of rain amplification.

The winners were selected from eight proposals submitted by 64 scientists from 35 institutions from ten countries. The proposals were thoroughly vetted by a committee of world experts in weather modification, hydrometeorology, climate modelling, remote sensing and artificial intelligence.
