UAE tourism market offers tool for calculating the carbon footprint of hotels
This tool helps UAE to achieve climate neutrality by 2050
The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism has reviewed a carbon dioxide calculation tool to support hotels in measuring and monitoring the consumption of carbon sources and managing their environmental impact. This was reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
A new advanced carbon dioxide tracking tool provides hotels with ongoing access to monitoring aspects of high consumption of carbon dioxide sources, especially energy and water.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism has developed the methodology and working mechanism of the "Carbon Calculator" in collaboration with partners in the hospitality and hospitality industries, as well as the Abu Dhabi Environment Agency and the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of Tourism at the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT), noted that the launch of the Carbon Dioxide Emissions Calculation Tool is an important and supportive achievement for the hospitality sector in Abu Dhabi, contributing to a sustainable future.
For her part, Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Environment Agency, noted the active initiatives taken by the sector to reduce carbon dioxide emissions as part of its path to increasing sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, noting that the "Carbon Calculator" reflects the commitment of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism to introduce digital technologies to achieve the public good and create an environmentally friendly tourism sector.
The source emphasises that the use of the carbon dioxide emissions calculation tool is mandatory for all hotels in Abu Dhabi, which are required to provide monthly reports on consumption levels of carbon dioxide sources.
