Brazil intends to explore options for cooperation with Russia in the field of uranium mining and the development of small modular reactors, according to a statement from the country's relevant ministry. The topic of peaceful nuclear energy is becoming one of the most important items on the BRICS cooperation agenda.

What role does nuclear energy play in the technological development of BRICS countries? Why are educational exchanges between BRICS, Latin American and Caribbean countries necessary for the new generation of scientists?

Julio de Oliveira, an employee of the Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research in Sao Paulo, answered these questions in the BRICSterview.
